Dr. Michael Hanna, M.D., CCFP, MBBCh, DCAPM, CIME, CFE, LL.M(c)
President and Medical Director

Dr. Michael Hanna is a duly qualified physician in the province of Ontario and licensed to practice medicine by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario with over a decade of clinical experience. Dr. Hanna obtained certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He completed training in Family Medicine at the University of Manitoba. He is a staff physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at William Osler Health System practicing at both Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital. He is an examiner and evaluator for the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Medical Council of Canada. He is actively teaching junior and senior residents from the Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine residency programs at McMaster University and the University of Toronto. He enrolled in a Health Law program to obtain his LL.M. (Masters of Law) as well as Masters of Health Management (MHM) at McMaster University.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Hanna has a full spectrum medical legal practice. He earned an International Certification in Impairment and Disability Rating from the American Board of Forensic Professionals (ABFP). He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) in the Healthcare and Insurance field by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He was invited as a guest speaker at insurance and medicolegal conferences on the subject of healthcare and insurance fraud as well as catastrophic impairment designation. He completed a postgraduate training in chronic pain and completed the requirements for Diplomate of Canadian Academy of Pain Management. He has earned the International Certification in Impairment and Disability Rating from the American Board of Forensic Professionals. In addition, he is a Certified Independent Medical Examiner (CIME) by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME).

Dr. Hanna served as the Medical Director for a number of assessment companies including Seiden Health Management, Dynamic Functional Solutions, and Synoptic Medical Assessments and additionally acted as a medical advisor to a number of National and International Corporations. He has extensive experience in impairment and disability determination providing medical-legal, independent insurance, catastrophic impairment, long-term disability, and WSIB assessments. He has undertaken several thousand independent medical evaluations, including catastrophic assessments utilizing the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment. He is trained and certified in the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment 4th and 6th Editions. He has achieved a strong track record of performance in turnaround and high-paced organizations. Dr. Hanna works collaboratively with 3500+ physicians and medicolegal experts across Canada to ensure the provision of the highest quality independent and unbiased medical evaluations for major insurance companies across Canada and various law firms.

Christine Andraos, M.Sc.
Director of Operations

Christine oversees the day-to-day operations of CMAC including expense control, staff management, business development, and marketing. She has been working in the medico-legal field for the past several years. Prior to her entering the workforce, Christine completed a Bachelor of Science at McMaster University in 2009, after which she pursed a one-year Bachelor of Education at The University of Toronto. In 2014, she obtained a Master’s Degree at York University in the field of Kinesiology and Health Science.

When she is not working, Christine enjoys dancing, playing volleyball, rock climbing, and spending time with her niece and nephew. She also enjoys independent learning and has engaged in various professional programs and certifications.

Kamal Kalsi, M.Sc., CAMAG
Director of CAT Department

Kamal successfully manages the Catastrophic Department at CMAC. She has over eight years of experience in the Accidents Benefits industry. Kamal is an experienced Catastrophic Claims Coordinator and has thorough knowledge of the SABS, specializing in Catastrophic claims. She is a strong Quality Assurance professional with a Certification in the AMA Guides 4th edition by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. Prior to her work experience, Kamal completed her Masters of Science in Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Hemapriya Gunasekaran, B.DS
Director of Accident Benefits Department

Hemapriya efficiently oversees the Accident Benefits Department at CMAC by ensuring stringent quality, consistency and timelines are met.

Hema is a Dental Surgeon by background and has over 10 years of clinical experience both at a hospital and private dental office. She has undergone training in the AMA Guides 4th and 6th edition by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. She has very good knowledge of the SABS and has more than five years of experience working on both defense and plaintiff reports including Accident Benefits, Catastrophic and Disability claims and also experienced in heading the Catastrophic Team.

Vivek Thanikachalam
Director of Med-Legal Department

Vivek obtained a Bachelor Degree in Medical Science with a specialization in Orthopaedic Surgery. He brings in great experience and knowledge of permanent impairments and post-traumatic deformity assessment. He utilizes his 10+ years of clinical experience in traumatology and musculoskeletal disorders to ensure the medical accuracy of each report. He is a keen researcher and has published scientific articles in medical journals.

He provides clinical support for various departments including scheduling and the QA team. As the director of the TORT department, Vivek provides meticulous review of medico-legal reports ensuring the defensibility of each claim.

Joseph Yeboah
Director of Business Development and Accounting

Joseph has had over 15 years of experience in the financial and telecommunication sector. He is an experienced manager and was responsible for monitoring and authorization trades. As the director of Business Development, Joseph has successfully build positive and professional relationships with physicians and lawyers.

Darya Kutovaya
Director of Billing Department

Darya has been working in the medico-legal industry for over five years. She is responsible for insurance services and communication. She is currently enrolled in a Paralegal Program to become a licensed paralegal. Prior to her employment, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and International Relations.

When she is not working, Darya enjoys traveling, swimming, hiking, painting and spending time with her family and friends.
